
The glutes can be divided into the glute max, medius and minimus.

The glute Maximus is responsible for hip extension and has an upper and lower section.
Upper does horizontal hip extension like hip thrusts, bridges, 45, GHR…

Lower does vertical hip extension like rdls, leg press, split squats, lunges…

The glute medius and minimus work together to primarily do abduction. This looks like side kicks, kickbacks and abduction variations like the seated abduction. There will be some overlap between upper/side glutes!
